Hi SAS student members:

For our final meeting of the year we are exciting to announce that Jordina Quain (she/her) will be joining us from the lands of the Wadjuk Noongar people in Boorloo (Perth, WA) to talk with us about Lessons from my Career in Sex Ed.

In her decade of learning and working in the field of Sexology, Jordi has studied undergrad and postgrad Sexology, volunteered with local organisations, written a sexuality drama program for young people with disabilities, taught peer sex ed to marginalised young people throughout WA, and developed accessible sexuality education resources nationally. She has taught sex ed in the middle of the Indian ocean, in remote Northern Thailand, in Parliament, Senate hearings and like many of us, in party kitchens, nightclub bathrooms and at family dinners. In this presentation, Jordi will tell us about what her career has entailed and share her learnings. Participants will learn about some challenges in the field of sexuality education, and hear a client case study regarding sexuality education and accessibility. Jordi will share some Project Management principles for Sexologists and provide us with some practical tips for getting a job in sexuality education and Not-For-Profit Organisations (NFPs). This practical, approachable session will represent a wide array of roles in sexuality education in particular management, advocacy and projects which are not often talked about in our field.

There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions in this relaxed, interactive session which will be driven by participant interest and questions.

Date: Monday - October 9 - 2023
